If savoring chocolate is just too slow for you, a Belgian chocolatier has the answer.

At first I thought this story was a joke, like the Cadbury’s Dairy Milk smuggling bust story, but since it’s from Reuters and has been covered in a lot of mainstream press, I’m going to assume it’s true: A Belgian chocolatier invented and sells a system for snorting chocolate like cocaine.

Chocolatier Dominique Persoone demonstrates his invention:

For the whole story, you can view an interview with Dominique in his beautiful store, The Chocolate Line, in Bruges, Belgium.

I confess, I don’t see the attraction of this device — no melting in your mouth, no chewing — it seems too clinical to me. But then I haven’t tried it yet, so maybe it’s an unexplainable experience.

Still, I can’t help thinking about the aftermath of attempting to sniff chocolate powder. Best keep a handkerchief handy.
