Chocolate by the numbers
By cacaopod
I’ve always had a tenuous relationship with numbers. In their raw form, numbers often leave me feeling confused and empty. But when numbers and figures are turned into charts and graphs (given form, if you will), I get it. They become something I can sink my teeth into.
I recently came across this novel chocolate pie chart with segments made of milk chocolate, dark chocolate and white chocolate. It’s from Chocolate Editions by Mary and Matt, a pair of artists in Brooklyn, NY who make edible chocolate pop art.
The segments of their 5.5 ounce pie chart are 70% dark chocolate (a 72% chocolate), 20% milk chocolate (a 66% chocolate) and 10% white chocolate(a 36% chocolate). Well, even if the numbers are hard to follow, I give them high marks for creativity. It sells for $20 on their website. They also sell chocolate bars including some based on Neapolitan ice cream flavors and tangerine. Go figure.
